Proudly supporting champions within our community
We were delighted to support the Stars of Lowestoft & Waveney Awards 2017, which took place on Tuesday 10th October at the Ivy House Country Hotel in Oulton Broad.
This fantastic evening is a culmination of months of hard work, hundreds of nominations and of course, judging, to celebrate and recognise those who have made and continue to make selfless contributions in our community.
The Potters Friends Foundation was thrilled to be involved as sponsor for the category, ‘Charity Worker of the Year’. There were lots of worthy nominations and it was a tremendously difficult category to judge.
The award was given to Courteney Parker of Halesworth who, following the tragic passing of her 6 week old son after a Strep B infection, created the Blayze’ing Star Charity.
Courteney is raising awareness of this infection and has sent over 800 Strep B tests to pregnant women across the country; something not offered on the NHS. She is and will continue to save lives, and it was a fitting tribute to her when she was also later announced as the overall winner of the 2017 Stars of Lowestoft & Waveney Awards.
The Potters Friends Foundation has since made a £500.00 donation to Courteney’s Blayze’ing Star Charity; a worthy cause indeed.
On the evening, John Potter and Nathan Moore were also on hand to present ‘Unsung Hero’ Winner, Sally Turner with a weekend break at Potters Resort in recognition of her continued contribution as Beccles Brownies Division Commissioner. We look forward to welcoming Sarah very soon!
In November, the Potters Friends Foundation is pleased to be involved in other community events, sponsoring the ‘Great Community Contribution’ category at the Great Yarmouth Spirit of Enterprise Awards, as well as the ‘Community Champion’ category at the Pride of Essex Awards.
These events are a great opportunity for us to recognise some very special people that really make a difference, helping others in our community.
