Prep is the key behind a great meal!
Whilst fundraising will always be a big part of what the Potters Friends Foundation do, the importance of giving time in the community can often be underrated. Not so at one of our local schools where Potters Resort chefs Adam Manthorpe and Stuart Pegg have been giving their time to pupils with severe learning difficulties.
Over the last 9 weeks, children at the Warren School in Lowestoft, a community special school, have learnt a variety of new skills in the kitchen including food preparation, cooking, kitchen hygiene and the safe and proper use of kitchen equipment. In that time, they have also agreed between them a festive three course menu which will be prepped, cooked and served to the parents of the students, on a very special afternoon at the school in December.
The menus for the lunch have also seen valuable input from Potters with Jacqui Barnes, Design Manager at Potters Resort meeting with the students to discuss ideas, themes and presentation. Those ideas will be put together, professionally designed and kindly produced free of charge by our fantastic print partners, Richardson Printing in Lowestoft.
Stuart Pegg, Potters Resort's Executive Head Chef says "It's been a great pleasure working with such a wonderful bunch at the Warren School. Myself and Adam have been truly inspired by the pupils who have shown such enthusiasm during our visits and we're sure they will use the skills they've learnt when they leave the school next year. The teaching and support staff at the Warren School have been extremely welcoming and a joy to work alongside. As such, we plan to continue going to the school in the new year from time to time and will of course keep the school in mind in relation to future projects."
